Colophon

This site is written in Markdown and published as a static site.

It is built with MkDocs Material and a custom visual theme derived from a DOS/Borland-inspired palette. The design is intentionally restrained: dark blue surfaces, clear contrast, cyan links, yellow highlights, and minimal ornament.

The site is edited using a mixture of iA Writer, Obsidian, Vim, and Git. The aim is that every page remains readable as a source file, not only as a rendered page.

As a small visual aside, I keep one stylised version of the site image in the same spirit as the wider theme: simple shapes, high contrast, visible edges, and the graphic language of early vector displays and DOS-era interfaces.

A Style Specimen is available to view.

Principles

This site should be:

  • plain enough to maintain
  • fast enough to forget
  • quiet enough to read
  • structured enough to navigate
  • durable enough to keep

There are no comments, no feeds, no engagement machinery, and no attempt to keep visitors on the site longer than necessary.

A personal site should be a place, not a trap.
